Manifestations is a set of six pieces. The first piece is faded, and out of focus. The second creates a sudden contrast with a comically, unbalanced character. The third, fourth and fifth pieces move from one to another without interruption, and I consider these three a group within themselves. This smaller group begins with a dirge and develops into a turbulent storm that crashes into the fifth. After a moment of sudden intensity, the piece slowly winds down and begins to recall the previous harmonies of the dirge. The final piece is a distant melody that slowly fades away. –David Witmer
